Special Projects

From time-to-time, Alabaster Ministries undertakes individual special projects in different areas of the world.  These are some of the ways we've been able to bless.

  • Philippines 2011

In December 2011, a group of pastors, their wives and children were traveling from General Santos to Davao on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines.  While on the way, they had a tragic accident, killing 13 people.  Bob and Kathy Fitts, founders of Alabaster Ministries, were in the Philippines when the accident occurred.  They flew to GenSan and visited the survivors in the hospital. Support raised through Alabaster Ministries paid for: all the hospitalization bills for the survivors, funeral expenses for those who lost their lives, a new church van to replace that lost in the accident, home remodeling expenses for the Pastor to care for the newly orphaned children, a fund was set up for additional expesnse the Pastor's family would undertake in caring for the children.

  • South Africa, 2008

In 2008, Alabaster Ministries traveled to Badplaas, South Africa to weather-proof a rough timbered home of a grandmother looking after her 5 orphaned grandchildren.  As well, they built a home for an orphaned brother and sister.

  • Restore Tour 2007

A group of 23 musicians and support staff traveled through western Europe giving Benefit Concerts for orphans and widows in Romania and Kosovo.  The entirety of the funds collected, with matching funds by the Dutch NGO Wilde Ganzen was given to NGOs working in those countries.

  • Romania and Kosovo 2007

After the Restore Tour of Western Europe in the fall of 2007, a smaller group traveled to Romania and Kosovo.  While there, we visited the NGOs that Alabaster Ministries supports. These NGOs work directly with many fatherless and widows in their regions to provide education, health services, legal advice, life skills, and other services to improve their quality of life.  The smaller "Restore" tour group visited with several families, and conducted concerts in both Sighisoara, Romania and Djakova, Kosovo.

  • Kosovo 2003

Bob and Kathy Fitts traveled to Albania and Kosovo to visit the fatherless and widows in two communities and to provide food and clothing. Following their visit, a tractor was purchased to be shared by several families to farm their newly de-mined fields.

  • Ruth Ruibal Benefit

The benefit concert for Ruth Ruibal in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in April 1996 was the inaugural event for Alabaster Ministries.

Ruth and her husband, Julio Ruibal, pastored a church in Cali, Colombia.  Julio was also an integral part of bringing pastors and ministries together in Cali for unified prayer to see the drug cartel's hold on the city come to an end.

In December 1995, an assassin was waiting for him when he was dropped off by Ruth to attend a prayer meeting of Cali's Pastors, and a single bullet to the head ended his life on earth.

After hearing the tragic story, Ruth was invited by Bob and Kathy Fitts to have a time of rest and refreshing in Hawaii.  The week of rest was concluded by a benefit concert for her at which fragrant flower leis were stacked to the top of her head by the concert attendees.
